The Art of Inspiration

Updated: Mar 17

A few days ago I was visiting a coffee shop that has THE best view of the Golden Gate Bridge. While I was admiring the view, I got this overwhelming feeling of Deja Vu but as I thought about it more, I realized I was reminded of this drawing I did three years ago, before I moved to San Francisco.

Personal drawing from 2021 of the Golden Gate Bridge

It was two months before I was going to move to the Bay Area to start at San Francisco State in the coming fall. Drawing the iconic Golden Gate Bridge was just a fun way for me to admire the beauty of my soon to be home, and kind of manifest what I wanted in my move to the city. Now, looking back, I think this one moment of inspiration really helped me to become more at ease with the life transition that awaited me!

Being that this would be my first time living in a big city, I was moving with the hopes of finding community, exploring the food palette of the Bay Area and to really begin growing into adulthood. Little did I know how my life would really be transformed!

I have built community that inspires me every day. I have found passions that feel authentic to me. I have started living a life that feels really full in the best ways. Even though it has taken consistent effort, it is so rewarding to feel like you are making a path for YOU! And for me that process starts with art. This is why I urge every single creative I know to keep your visions alive through your art. Document the process!

If for you, it's not art, let it be something else that inspires you to keep going. It is important to feel a drive for the things we do to live a balanced life and that's something everyone deserves!
